Kathy has lived in Northern Minnesota for the last 34 years. She enjoys cooking, especially for other people; which is what makes running a Bed & Breakfast so enjoyable. One of her favorite things is being able to grow most of the items they serve for breakfast right on the farm. She also loves to share the story of how they found the historic homestead, and says it gives true meaning to the phrase ‘meant-to-be.’ When not pampering guests, Kathy spends time visiting her children and grandchildren in South Dakota and the Minneapolis area, and visits thrift and antique stores looking for additions for the B&B gift store opening soon.
Pam, originally from Iowa, has lived in Minnesota for 20 years. An accountant by trade, Pam was drawn to the B&B business because of the people, “I love meeting and visiting with new people, and it’s such a great experience when they leave feeling well-taken care of!” One of the big payoffs is being able to take care of the historic farm and the people who love it as much as she does. Pam works in Minneapolis, and likes to spend time visiting her children in St. Paul and her children and grandchildren in Colorado. Pam loves to travel – especially to sunny destinations such as Mexico and Twins spring training in Florida.
The hostesses share a genuine love for the outdoors and the calm and solitude that their location in the northwoods provides. Kathy says, “I love to stand outside and listen to the silence or the wind blowing through the pine trees. There’s nothing quite like it – and the walleye fishing here ain’t bad either!” Both look forward to the years ahead, “Many guests have stayed with us and returned for one or more visits. Their faces are becoming familiar and their hugs tell us that we’re doing things right. We hope to be here for them for as long as we are able!”
