Experience the rich history of our Original Finnish Homestead
Nestled in 17 acres of beautiful pine trees, Northern Comfort is the perfect place to relax in a warm and cozy atmosphere. Enjoy our authentic wood-burning Finnish Sauna or try our on-site massage, available by appointment.
Guests are treated to complimentary wine and cheese on Friday and Saturday evenings before resting on pillow-top beds at night. Guests also enjoy a delicious full gourmet breakfast each morning, including fruits and vegetables from the farm.
Built in 1901, Northern Comfort Bed & Breakfast started as a Finnish boarding house in 1910 and retains that historic feel, including examples of the hand-hewn log buildings that make Embarrass one of America’s 16 Uncommon Places by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
We are located in northern Minnesota’s Iron Range, with convenient access to Giants Ridge ski slopes, Ely, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, and Lake Vermilion.
